Time of the Writer Photo Gallery

Tsitsi Dangarembga and Chika UnigwePhotography has long since developed from a hobby into a passion for me (pun intended!); and taking pictures of writers is an especially pleasurable pursuit.

Like most photographers, I prefer to shoot my subjects when they’re not looking – you capture the most natural expressions when the reaction is to something other than you.

At the Time of the Writer this year I was well-positioned at many events, and had an especially good haul of shots. I’ve posted twenty-two of them to my online gallery – please browse and enjoy.

Victor Dlamini on SAfm: Time of the Writer, Comrade Fatso, James Clarke and More

On my show this week (“SAfm Literature” – airing Sundays from 1 to 4pm), I’m pleased to be hosting the University of KwaZulu Natal’s Peter Rorvik, who’s in charge of the Centre for Creative Arts there, which is about to move forward with its 10th Time of the Writer festival. Keeping a festival going for a decade is no small acheivement, and the astonishingly diverse group of writers who will be attending this year is commensurate with the occasion: Click here for the full list, and tune in to hear more about the readings, performances and other goings on at this major event.

Also on the show this week:
